It looks as if that fascist bastard Hugo Chavez has gone and won another election . I wholeheartedly support the wholesomely democratic opposition, and am deeply disheartened by their apparent loss. Never mind. They can always have a coup next year.

Why Doesn't Chomsky Like Me?

Recently I took Noam Chomsky to task for falsely attributing the words "kill", "perjor" and "periphrastic" to President Bush. I pointed out that Bush could not begin to pronounce such words, never mind read them from a cue card. Someone from the MediaLens message board sent him an e-mail seeking clarification, and posted the following excerpts from the reply:

"Put ... the following ... words in order: Face, sodding ... yours, shut."

Typical evasion! Is Chomsky seriously denying that he attributed these words to President Bush? It would be odd if he is, for he conjugates precisely these words in a quotation imputed to Bush on his blog! Previously he accused me of "making shit up" when I said I'd met him and declined a San Francisco wedding proposal. He invited me to "bite his loaf" and suggested I had not produced "one particle of evidence that anyone actually reads your columns". Well, those tactics may work when you're denying something that noone has any record of. But this time his claims are actually up there on his blog as transcribed by someone else for all to see! It is astounding that a formerly respectable left-wing academic would descend to such obfuscation in the face of a direct challenge.

But surely there is much we can agree on. For example, we have to oppose the IMF programme in Iraq. Frankly, a modern version of Mission:Impossible based in the Middle East was always going to be fraught with controversy. And while I have no objection to seeing Iraqis bombed and shot at, I do resent the idea that they may be subjected to offensive cultural stereotypes just because they're Islamofascist bastards.

Surely that's something both Chomsky and I can agree on?

The idiot Lefties that hang around MediaLens like to pretend the BBC is somehow 'establishment'. Bollocks. The late Andy Gilligan would still be in his job, desparately trying to embarrass the government if it hadn't been for the establishment hitting back. However, since they persist in minute textual analysis in order to make their bizarre claims, I thought it would be entertaining to hear some of them attempt to explain this , from the Beeb's website:

Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy has urged his party to take an ambitious approach in the next general election.
The move comes following recent by-election successes in Leicester South.

Mr Kennedy believes important gains can be made when voters eventually go to the polls.

He told BBC 1's Breakfast with Frost: "If we go into the next election, as I hope we will, on 24-25% (share of the vote), the sky is the limit.

"Therefore we shouldn't lack ambition".

Parmjit Singh Gill recently overturned a 13,000 Labour majority to take Leicester South and increase the Liberal Democrat's standing in Parliament to 55 MPs.

Despite the victory, Mr Kennedy played down the prospect of replacing the Conservatives as the main opposition party.

How do you like that? Here is the leader of a party which opposed the liberation of Iraq, and his comments are being seriously reported by the BBC. In my younger, more idealistic days, fellow communists described such people as "objectively pro-Fascist". So, how do the kids in the MediaLens playground explain that one? If the Beeb is so pro-establishment how come it dares to broadcast the views of a fat bastard who has the temerity to disagree with the Prime Minister, without also broadcasting his execution live on air?

Far Left blogger Noam Chomsky offers his recommendation to a future Muqtada al-Sadr-led government:

An independent Iraq would probably take steps to gain a leading position in the Arab
world, which would mean confronting the main enemy, US- backed Israel.

They'll never forgive Blair for having the guts to take this country into war. The Liberals and the Respect Coalition should be utterly ashamed of themselves for making light of the plight of Iraqi democrats while piously courting the Islamofascist vote in this country. Take this shameless passage from Respect's website:

These sad sacks are seriously claiming that standing on policies that Muslims want to vote for isn't appealing to the Muslim vote. Perhaps Mr Rees, the author of the above screed, would like to explain Oliur Rahman's words to Weekly Worker?:

"The mosques situated in the ward were very supportive".

Foot in mouth there, I think.
